
Matthew Baldwin took the helm of PMI Health Group in July 2008. Son of the former Chief Executive Officer, Chris Baldwin, Matthew's appointment signaled the company’s intent to remain an independent, family concern at a time of increasingly consolidation in the medical insurance market, particularly in the North West.
Matthew is a remarkably successful regional businessman with big ambitions for the company. Prior to taking the reins as PMI Health Group chief executive, he was the managing director of another Cheshire business, Anderton Concrete Products.
He took control of Anderton Concrete in 1997 and built the company rapidly from a turnover of around £1.75 million to £11 million by 2005.
He has a few interesting stories to tell along the way including crewing, in his youth, for Pink Floyd keyboard player and founder member Rick Wright. He is a talented a yachtsman and he has completed transatlantic crossings.
Matthew has directorships of other North West/Manchester businesses, including the local innovative IT communications company Voicescape, but his predominant focus is driving the success of PMI Health Group.

A Chartered Accountant by background, Richard joined PMI Health Group in 1993 as Financial Controller. He was promoted to Financial Director in 1995, becoming Managing Director in 2003.
Richard has been instrumental in driving the sales performance and customer service standards within the business. He has a BA in Economics from Manchester University.
Rachael Floyd, Group Operations DirectorRachael joined the insurance Claims Management team in 1993 as a Managed Care Nurse.
Initially becoming Director of Corporate Medical Management in 2002 and subsequently Group Operations Director for PMI Health Group in 2004, Rachael now has responsibility for Customer Services, IT and Managed Care.
Using a combination of improved business processes, technology and team structuring, she has improved both operational efficiency and service to the customer. She has a Bachelor of Law degree and a Masters in IT.
Dr Trevor Smith, Clinical DirectorTrevor Smith is the Clinical Director for the PMI Health Group, holds the prestigious Fellowship of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians. He previously worked for the RHM Food Group, British Steel and Fisons Pharmaceuticals, before joining PMI Health Group in November 2004.
During his period working in the food sector, he developed an interest in respiratory ill health due to dust exposure in food ingredients. He has authored a number of journal publications on this subject.
He is a past Chairman of the Food Industry Medical Association and is an assessor for medical appraisals of Occupational Physicians on behalf of the Society of Occupational Medicine.
Steve Langan, Large Corporate Sales DirectorWhen Steve joined PMI Health Group in 1999 he brought a wealth of experience in the healthcare sector. Having worked in senior sales roles for the insurers CIGNA and BUPA and as a Consultant for the actuarial firm Watson Wyatt, Steve had an in-depth knowledge of the management of large, complex, corporate risk.
In 2001 he was appointed Sales Director in recognition of the considerable impact he had upon the development of the Group.
Mike Blake Dip CII, Compliance DirectorMike Blake joined PMI Health Group in 1994 after having previously spent several years with BUPA working in the field of corporate medical insurance sales.
As Compliance Director, he is not only responsible for FSA compliance but also ensuring that the consultants follow internal procedures. Qualified to DipCII, Mike provides the main point of contact between the client-facing consultants and internal operations, ensuring effective communication.
He has far reaching industry experience and expertise, from medical insurance and international PMI to group risk and occupational health.
Having spent the majority of his career at PMI, Ian has an impressive 15 years’ experience in the employee healthcare and risk management sector.
As PMI’s Sales Director, and the youngest Board member, Ian leads the sales team in building client relationships, and securing and winning new business. Leading by example, he believes the starting point for success lies in developing client partnerships, which enable an appreciation of a client’s real needs and expectations.
