Age Discrimination – The New Threat
On 1 October 2006, new Age Discrimination regulations will come into force, making it unlawful to discriminate against workers, employees, job seekers and trainees because of their age.
The Employment Equality (Age) Regulations 2006 are derived from a European Directive and have been described as ‘likely to be the most significant impact on employment since the introduction of Sex Discrimination 1975’. 1
They affect every employer in the UK – and there will be no cap on compensation claims.
